[Cialug] voip service

The phone company that I used to have seems to have evaporated
http://www.vartec.com/
Which may explain why my phones no longer work and no one answers the
customer support lines.
I intended to have a second line using voip and asterisk for my own line,
the death of vartec has changed my plans. It's outrageous how much quest and
att want for a land line. It would be cheaper to get another cell but my mom
doesn't want one. It's looking like a tie between Mediacom and vonage.

i have vonage. its decent. i dont expect a lot from a phone provider 
other than to be extrememly cost effective. here is all the cities in 
the 515 area code you can get a number with them.

Available Towns: Alleman, Altoona, Ames, Ankeny, Bondurant, Boone, 
Cambridge, Carlisle, Clive, Cumming, Des Moines, Elkhart, Gilbert, 
Grimes, Hartford, Kelley, Madrid, Nevada, Norwalk, Polk City, Runnells, 
Urbandale, Van Meter, Waukee, West Des Moines, and Windsor Heights
