Without actually buying an sdhc card, is it possible to tell if the
built in media card reader on my laptop supports it?

I was considering buying something like a 4G or 8G card and seeing if
I could use it in a way that improved battery life by reducing hdd
usage. As I understand it, SD is limited to 2G which may not be
extremely useful.
