XP Run's barely adequately with 256M, with this amount of RAM its best
to turn off a lot of its "extras." I've been using XP in a 256M VM to
test websites with IE7 and it's a pain.
Interestingly, I decided I don't trust the wine version of IE6 to
render sites the same as IE6 in Windows so I installed Win2k in a VM
with 2G disk (barely enough after all updates) and 256M RAM. It is
screaming fast. As a matter of fact, IE6 in a win2k vm is as fast as
IE6 in wine and it still uses less ram than firefox. :-)
