Yeah, that's one of the most glorious mockeries of the damn paperclip
I've seen.  Does anybody remember when MS did a flash cartoon series
about how everyone hates "Clippy"?  He was voiced by Gilbert Gottfried
in order to fully ram home the point of his annoyingness.  It's fuzzy,
but as I recall, there might have even been a musical number about how
he was sad not to make it into the default settings in Office XP.  I
kid you not.

MS no longer hosts the cartoons, to my knowledge, but a search reveals
that some civic-minded fellow preserved at least some of them for
posterity at youtube:
