[Cialug] Time change?

Yeah, the last minute nature has been bothering me too.
I can understand a single vendor being slow to release a patch, but we
had
Novell, Red Hat, and Microsoft all release the "official" information
at about
the same time. While I'm not pleased with that, I do like the fact
that Novell
also released the information as podcasts. At least one of them "gets
it".

Absolutely, if I was in one of those industries, I'd be more concerned.

But I also assume that they have hired people like us that have checked

the systems and applied patches as needed.

I'll admit, I'm one of those programmers that has developed DST logic
for
a project I was working on. It was for a good reason, I couldn't rely
on
the OS. Set your OS to use GMT and ask it if DST is set. GMT
doesn't
care about daylight savings time.

The thing that is cracking me up about the new DST change is how last
minute everything is. We've known about this for at least 18 months
now
but it has only been in the last 1- 2 months that vendors are actually

releasing the proper patches for it.
