Planetplanet is an RSS agregator. I really enjoy reading the various
planets because it lets me get insight into the minds of the people I
frequently correspond with and even get to know people who I only
interact with through others.
Has there ever been discussions about doing that for CIALUG? Ubuntu has
these things called "Loco Teams" which are kind of like LUGs but focused
more on providing support and translations to local areas. They like to
have planets so we set up these instructions:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoCreatingPlanet
The result can be simple static html (or it can generate PHP or
whatever) and simply needs a cron job to run.
Here are some examples:
http://planet.ubuntu.com
and http://www.planetplanet.org/ has a bunch of other planets listed
down the left navigation bar.
It would be really interesting to have a single planet for the various
other CIA___ teams, but all grouped into one. LUG, PHP, Computer User's
Group, even maybe .Net.
