Never taken anything from HOTT, so I can't comment. Sorry. Personally,
I'm the kind of guy that usually just picks up a book, and I take what I
need from there. I use most of those "How To" books as reference
manuals. As long as you know the general design, everything else is
syntax, and you can always look up syntax.
