I managed to get about $100 out of Microsoft's settlement with the state 
of Minnesota. It was certainly better than 22 cents and worth the time 
it took to fill out the paperwork. The best part was, i've never 
actually paid for Microsoft products (other than in suffering from 
having to deal with all the problems they cause). The wording of that 
settlement was such that you'd get money back as long as you had 
legally acquired Microsoft products, but it did not say that they had 
to be purchased. I had legally acquired a few copies of Windows and 
Office through gifts while living in Minnesota during the years covered 
by the settlement and thus was eligible.
