[Cialug] Wierd account stuff

If you're logged in as root and do a su - <username> you shouldn't have to
enter a password.  As root it should just go.

Are you sudo'ing it as a regular user?  It almost sounds like you're not
really root when you're doing the su - <username> so it's possible that
you're not root when you passwd <username> to change the password.

That'd be the only idea off the top of my head.  Are there any more
details?  Is "incorrect password" the complete error?  Does the old password
still work?

If you can't get into the account at all you might try checking the shadow
file in /etc/ to make sure the user exists.
