[Cialug] RHEL install Inspiron 9300

Have you tried loading a live CD (I would suggest Knoppix), as an
initial linux hardware compatibility test?

Anyone have any difficultly installing RHEL WS 3.X on an Dell Inspiron
9300 laptop? 

I get to the point where it loads start to load the kernel image, then
the display does this really funky fade/color change and then it
hangs.
I also tried RHEL 4.x and had the same issue. Same problem when doing
a
"text" install also.  

Anyone have ideas as to where to start looking?
