Also, for strickly collaboration you can use simple tools such as
Jabber for
instant messaging, and a Wiki for documentation.

Could you be more specific in what type of collaboration you are
thinking
of? Did you want to share documents, source code, messages, phone
calls,
video conferencing, etc etc.
