If all you want is a competent shared code repository, check out
Subversion.
http://subversion.tigris.org/
http://svn1clicksetup.tigris.org/
The server and multiple types of client run on windows / linux / name
your os.
There's also a plugin for Visual Studio called AnkhSVN, though despite
pr to the contrary, it's beta. We have been checking out / committing
via the filesystem, and once you get used to the idea, you'll find it
works better not being integrated, especially if you are into the
continuous integration thing:
Some subversion clients:
http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/ - windows explorer integration
http://subclipse.tigris.org/ - built on eclipse
Some other ideas to hook into subversion include a) scripting builds and
releases so you are not manually deploying your apps (for .Net and MS
based tech, check out Nant at http://nant.sourceforge.net/), and b)
creating a build and deploy package every time someone checks into the
repository, also known as continuous integration (for .Net, check out
Cruise Control.Net at
http://confluence.public.thoughtworks.org/display/CCNET/Welcome+to+Cruis
eControl.NET)
Good luck and say hi to Laura for me

Subject: [Cialug] team collaboration software
Does anyone have any experience with Lumination software or any open
source product that will allow team collaboration? I really don't want
to go down the SharePoint road and would like to offer my supervisor and
users an alternative.
