[Cialug] what distros were out in 1996?

The good news is that woody came with a list of servers built in. The
bad news is that although my ethernet card was detected and works
fine with a basic Debian install (sans any other packages), it
wouldn't setup properly during installation so I couldn't download
anything. I kept getting "Connect (113 no route to host)" errors, and
then it showed a server like ftp.debian.org, with the IP 1.0.0.0 next
to it. I'm such a n00b I have no idea what all that meant.

Anyway, the base Debian is on, the net is running and I can ping
yahoo.com or whatever just fine. I tried to get started with apt, but
it seems it's not configured at all in /etc. The config files are
completely empty. So I'm guessing filling those files with a list of
servers is the next step.
