[Cialug] Question: Distro with auto wireless configuration?

Even though I don't feel like it is really Linux as we know it (challenging
to configure, use, and full of crufty secrets, as well as pay-to-play) I
will point out that Linspire could probably configure itself to run on your
toaster or mp3 player. They are not joking when they say 1-click install.
I bring this up because of how well it configured my USB wireless that I
haven't got working since 8-(
They have gone to great lengths to provide a painless first-time user
experience.
I think because of the unchallenging AOL-like sensation and the $$, no
self-respecting geek would use it, which is a little bit unfortunate.

Most of the newer "user friendly" distrubutions have nice gui network
configurators during the install script. Mandrake / Mandrivia does a
nice job of this.
Theron hit the nail on the head: it really depends on what card you
have. None of them will work unless you have a native driver supported
card. There are a lot of other options like ndis wrapper, or loading the
firmware from the Windows driver like the acx100 driver does, but those
probably won't happen during install.
