Let's not get carried away. It's important to remember that the only member of
the Macintosh team who remembers Jef having all the ideas before coming to
Apple was Jef himself.
Other members of the team recently started retelling stories on a wiki which was
recently turned into a book. Mr Raskin isn't nearly as responsible for the
Macintosh GUI as he would like everyone to believe. Instrumental, certainly,
but it was a team effort of some of the brightest and talented minds of the
time. Jef had the original idea, but most of it was tossed out even before he
left, and still hasn't seen the light of day in an OS these 20 years later.
The press is far too quick to give him too much credit. One word to sum up Jef's
impact on GUI: "piles"
