I have seen special and non-standard CPU chip mentioned several times, I
think they will use a serial number or something of the like to check for an
apple-specific chip.

My bet is that it'll be primarily either a check during initial install 
(which is pretty much what they do to kick out older machines now) or 
maybe a tricky thing w/ partition access that a standard BIOS wouldn't 
be able to grok, but my bet's on the former.
