In bookstore (Barnes & Noble) you can get distro and book for good price 
(SuSE 9.3, RH9,  Fedora 2 or 3, Mandrake 10.1 PowerPack, ...)

I have SuSE 9.2 on 5 CDs, if you are interested.
I'm newbie too and I'm more then happy with SuSE
