I'm wondering if using a USB wifi adapter with Linux would solve your
problem. Anyone using one?
Last time I had an ethernet driver problem on a laptop with an internal
nic, I switched to a usb ethernet adapter. I'm wondering if this would
apply to a usb wifi adapter also. (maybe it would work with the 2.6
kernel?)
The netgear wg111 is on the list of USB devices support by the kernel.
Here's the url:

It might work, I've got one here that works really well on the wife's
laptop (XP), but I haven't had a chance to try it out on Linux... My
only complaint is that it sticks out of the usb port like a big zit.
When I knocked the laptop of the stand, it got bent, but it still works.
Of course, you're not supposed to do that right?
