Greg Weeks (who used to work at RadiSys) did lots of Linux OCR work. It
was big into eBooks and Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org/). He
would scan entire books using Linux tools (GhostScript and some other
stuff) to make eBooks. Used some sort of multisheet feeder OCR scanner to
try to automate the process.
He was a member of the Cialug group or the mailing list. I can't find his
email or his website at the moment.

Subject
[Cialug] Linux OCR
Has anyone done any OCR with Linux or have any experience with it they
could
relate?
I'm interested in setting something up so that files get dropped into a
directory or uploaded via http, get processed, and output as txt or maybe
searchable PDF.
