[Cialug] MythTV installfest?

Thought on HDTV....

According to the FCC, all cable boxes must have FireWire on request.
Mediacom has a FW box for their HDTV & PVR service, although if you want it
installed for HDTV service (the lower rate), you MUST have them install it
to an HDTV. The only other issue with FW recording is the fact that not all
shows can be recorded (think HBO, etc). I have not practiced this yet, but I
believe it is true. Anybody using Firewire on their Myth boxes?

IIRC HDTV can have a higher resolution that DVD. Also the problem with DVD
is that it is lossy compressed video. You get artifacts and such in the dark
areas. I think HDTV is still compressed, but less so. I can't wait to see
fully uncompressed or lossless compressed 1080i HDTV.
