Any suggestions for a serial card with RJ45 ports? (Of course Linux support
is a must).

You could always put a serial mux in a linux box and telnet/ssh in to and
use a local session controller.

I've checked those out before. They seem to range in the $750 range on eBay.
A bit too rich for my blood. I'd rather have something a little cheaper, or
just go for serial cards in my PC. I've also been thinking about the Digi
EtherLite series. Any thoughts there?

One that you may find around fairly low cost is the Cisco AS2511-RJ.
It has 16 RJ45-serial ports and provides a good deal of functionality.
Make sure you find one with the AUI adapter though.
