Installing from the DVD iso is nice... no more swapping between CD's. If
you install the PowerPack edition from CD's, that's 5 CD's.
I love Mandrake's "urpmi" tool for updating, but it's kind of a pain to
keep your update source valid - for instance if you're still running 9.2
(now 2 versions old, but still supported with official updates) several
of the mirrors have dropped it, so you have to find a new mirror and
update your sources.
What would be sweet would be something like urpmi (or apt-get on Debian)
that uses a Bittorrent model - so there's always just one "tracker" for
the updates, but many mirrors can also feed the downloads.
If I'm not mistaken... doesn't Debian just keep a list of mirror
servers, and just goes down the list until it can connect to one of
them? I noticed last time I updated my old Debian Woody system that it
seemed to be hunting for servers for a long time.
