Which Korea are we comparing the US to? South Korea is a very small country in comparison to the US. A little less than the size of Colorado but having about 50 million people. Making infrastructure changes should be easier. I think that is one thing we tend to forget about comparing the US with other countries. We tend to have a more free market (competition and stuff), we have a fairly large land mass, and our infrastructure was put in place a long time ago. Most of our internet (distance and in home) is sitting on top of wires that support a bandwidth of about 5Khz. While a lot of the urban population may have access to fairly expensive cable systems, most
small businesses rely on the DSL lines.<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal; font-size: 14px; font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; color: black; background-color: transparent; ">We could have a much better system if we decided to let the government provide all the improvements, of course we might find ourselves looking more like the government run countries we're trying not to emulate. What I'd like to know is why we can't use the fiber system run to most schools in Iowa? We paid for it and it must be pretty fast. There certainly seem to be a lot of schools up here in Ankeny. In fact, I live right behind one. Just hop on that nice big light band-width. Maybe they need to start putting some hubs right next to schools and getting faster internet out to those neighborhoods. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: normal; text-decoration: none; fon
