I wonder if it is cheaper to get new guts (my daughter would know I had not fixed it but replaced it, (I dont know if it is just me but in my house my fixing ability is part of what makes me "Dad") sobbing daughter "Its OK, Dad can fix it")) Or just put this case on a new ipod. I suspect the parts aren't costly so you could take a low-risk gamble at fixing it yourself.
