The time it takes me to do this is more important than the data because the video data is still on the tapes and could be re-transferred if necessary. A nightly backup of this data is not practical for many reasons but I'm thinking if the drive does decide to fail, it will most likely do so on my last tape while I'm transferring data and then the whole days work is wasted. This is why I think Raid 1 might be a good way to go.
