It's sad we have to depend on the marketplace for something so basic as a cable. If it is $30. than it is $30. I agree with Matt it is fun to go to BestBuy and even more fun going to the AppleStore®. That is the part of the pleasure of owning a fine instrument such as a Mac. If you think of yourself as an Artist - it is just part of the cost of your tools.<br><br>Why not make the cable yourself? There's mark up in everything because the economic model we have is based on capitalism. Retailers loose money on sale items and promotional events. Selling the extras is how they profit and continue to generate revenue to attract new customer base not to mention keep the loyal ones happy. Some companies let the employees in on how the margin and product pricing structure works, and other places like Wal-Mart run a tight ship so few have a clear idea of what the products' true value is vs what it's being sold at. The local stores may price cables cheaper, but not always. DIT computers is not much less as far as cables and accessories go. Online will always be the cheapest for cables and accessories. <br><br>It was depressing to close the CompUSA store that was by Kohl's in 2008. I
worked there 2.5 years before the company was liquidated. Even though the name
is still around, it was swallowed last minute by Tiger Direct. Tiger
Direct only bought and revamped the locations in TX, FL and a couple other
