I have an iBook 600, which has had a few logic boards courtesy of AppleCare. There are not too many issues with these machines once you know where the issue is on the logic board, so here's a tip: don't pick up the laptop with your left hand only.

Just make sure the machine is shut down and put in a padded bag when you are traveling.

Although the adapter pack is designed for their bags, it is just larger than the iBook/MacBook and has hooks on the ends, making it a pretty versatile solution. My pack has worked well with regular use since the late 90s.

One of my great passions is long distance motorcycling. One of my great frustrations is not taking my Nikon D70s with me (worrying about road dust and jarring) and not having emails or internet access. When I first saw the initial post this AM was what a perfect solution to my "minor issues". The new iPhone might be a possible solution but until ATT gets it's act together in an affordable manner, I'll wait. This might be an option for the short term, disposable. Thoughts?
I think like Victoria about this. When my wife bought her Mac Book I kept her iBook (a 600) and am using it to get my vinyl records onto CDs. I have also brought it to meetings. If it fails no great problem. Later. if still working, it may go to my granddaughter until it fails.
Glad you guys added your knowledge...I think the point was perhaps to have a basically disposable email machine for grandpa and ma....but I don't know, i certainly wouldn't buy it but if one wanted something to use and toss when it broke, that might be a way to go....
