<div>My mistake. I'd forgotten that they dropped Classic support in 10.5 (Leopard). I probably forgot because I haven't cared about Classic in about 3-4 years.... But if you have 10.0 thru 10.4 (Tiger) and are running a PowerPC chip then you can run most Classic apps inside OS X, you just need to install Mac OS 9.
</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The only reason you need a Mac emulator like SheepShaver or Basilik or PearPC or vMac is if:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>- You're running an Intel mac</div>
<div>- or you're under 10.5 (Intel or PowerPC) </div>
<div>- or you have some really old Mac OS 9 or earlier app that won't work right under Classic.</div>
<div>- or you're not running on a Mac at all (which is why Basilik and SheepShaver and such were mostly created).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>From the earlier part of the conversation it sounded like people were saying you needed SheepShaver to run Classic apps on PowerPC. Not true; only under 10.5 would you need that.</div>

<br> too<br><br><br>Is there something available that will allow me to use<br>>Classic apps on a PowerBook G4 and PowerPC IMac G5? Thanks in<br>>advance!<br>Eh?NOTHING extrais needed to let you run Classic Apps on PowerPC. It's built into all version of OS X from
10.0 to 10.5. You just have to install Mac OS 9, and if you have a machine that will run OS 9 at all then it was provided with your machine (I think). At worst you might have to get a copy of Mac OS 9 from someone in the MUG or from Apple. If you need some earlier version of Mac OS (1-8) then you'd probably have to use something like Sheepshaver or another Mac emulator,since I don't think the built in Classic support in OS X supports Classic Mac OS versions before
9.x (9.2 I think).<br><br>By the way, there's a further deliniation; are you talking about 680x0 processor apps, or PowerPC processor apps under Classic?<br><br>Out of curiosity, What do you need to run under Classic, anyway? I haven't used Classic at all in years. I don't think I even started it more than once or twice on my PowerPC G4 laptop, replaced over a year ago.
