<div>A followup. By "install Mac OS 9" I don't mean you have to BOOT Mac OS 9 (although that's a possibility too, on some machines). No, what I mean is that you can run OS 9 and OS X apps simulataneously. Sort of like how Parallels or VMWare lets you run Mac OS X and Windows apps at the same time, even with interleaved Windows (Parallels calls it Coherence, I forget what VMWare calls it).

<div>And bear in mind that this doesn't mean that you can run all Mac OS apps since the beginning of time. 680x0 processor apps especially may not work. Though there are emulator for just 680x0 Macs out there too.

<div>Eh? NOTHING extra is needed to let you run Classic Apps on PowerPC. It's built into all version of OS X from 10.0 to 10.5. You just have to install Mac OS 9, and if you have a machine that will run OS 9 at all then it was provided with your machine (I think). At worst you might have to get a copy of Mac OS 9 from someone in the MUG or from Apple. If you need some earlier version of Mac OS (1-8) then you'd probably have to use something like Sheepshaver or another Mac emulator, since I don't think the built in Classic support in OS X supports Classic Mac OS versions before
9.x (9.2 I think).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>By the way, there's a further deliniation; are you talking about 680x0 processor apps, or PowerPC processor apps under Classic?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Out of curiosity, What do you need to run under Classic, anyway? I haven't used Classic at all in years. I don't think I even started it more than once or twice on my PowerPC G4 laptop, replaced over a year ago.
