It sounds like either a defective drive or your hard drive has some corruption. First, run Disk Warrior on both drives. If that does not help, I would take it back and get another.<div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>Also, did you format it for Mac, or are you using the FAT32 formatting? If the latter, you should reformat the drive with Disk Utility.</div><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>-- </div><div>- Jon<br><div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div><br><div><div>On 2007, Jul 30, at 9:46 AM, <a href="mailto:CMSSpace@aol.com">CMSSpace@aol.com</a> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><blockquote type="cite"><font face="arial, helvetica"><font color="#000000" face="Geneva" family="SANSSERIF" size="2">I purchased a My Book Essential 500GB external USB2 drive yesterday. The price was $129 after rebates and I thought it looked like a great deal. After using it for a day and reading about it online, I'm not convinced. I've copied about 100GB to the drive and for the most part it has worked without problem but I have noticed that it won't copy a couple of my very large video files over. Although I have been able to move one 13.6GB file over, attempts to move a couple of other large files have ended up with a failure. This worries me. I have 14 days to try it out and return it if I don't like it. But of course, I'm going on vacation so I need to decide in the next day or two. Anybody have any experience with this drive. I know this topic has been beaten to death. I would like something I can count on but I may consider burning stuff to DVD as the best way to make sure the stuff is backed up more permanently.</font><font color="#000000" face="Geneva" family="SANSSERIF" size="2"></font><br><br><br>**************************************<br> Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at <a href="http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour">http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour</a> </font><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">_______________________________________________</div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">DMMUG mailing list</div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Use this Address to send mail to the list:</div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><a href="mailto:DMMUG@dmmug.org">DMMUG@dmmug.org</a></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Use this page to modify subscription options:</div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><a href="http://cialug.org/mailman/listinfo/dmmug">http://cialug.org/mailman/listinfo/dmmug</a></div> </blockquote></div><br></div></div></body></html>
