I tried what you said but what I need to load is a cd, not an mp3, and not in mp3 format (if I understand the words I’m using.) I was able to load the cd into and play it from itunes, but when I drag-and-dropped it into the player from there, it shows up on the screen as long as the usb is connected, but it doesn’t doesn’t show up on the play menu on the player after disconnect. I think that when I had the disk I tried to drop it directly into the player and that it didn’t work (I’ve been trying to do this in bits and pieces of time over the last few days and now can’t recall for certain). Should I try borrowing it again to try that again? <BR>

When you connect the MP3 player to your mac via the USB cable the MP3 player will appear on your desktop as a new hard drive. You can take MP3's and drag and drop them into the player. <BR>
