[DM-MUG] Bridges Doesn't Work with Photoshop Elements

Friends,
I recently downloaded the trial version of PSE6. It doesn't seem to  
work with Bridges, or does it? I went to preferences and selected edit  
with PSE and it does edit but doesn't save it back in iPhoto where it  
says it will be saved. Has anybody had this experience? I love PSE but  
I need to find a good editing software that works with my Mac and it's  
applications. At one of our meetings Aperture and Lightroom were  
discussed. Which of these is similar to PS, or , better?  Why would  
Adobe make a version that works with a Mac and not with iPhoto????  Or  
is Apple messing with Adobe?????
