Okay, that might be overkill in retrospect, but I hate migrations that don't work. I always wonder what else has gone wrong that hasn't yet shown up.
What do you get when you type this from the terminal:
defaults read com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
It's only going to report your default SoftwareUpdate location and won't do anything scary.
