If MAC address filtering is turned on, then only computers/devices who
have had their MAC address pre-added can access the router.
Passwords for accessing the network come from turning on encryption
using WEP/WPA/WPA2 etc. You can use that and MAC address filtering, or
one or the other. It's up to you. How secure do you want to be? It's
best to use both.
