Here are notes of what we discussed at our meeting. Please feel free
to comment, on or off list. Thanks.

1. Holly, Ray and I met from 8p-9p at Caribou Coffee; we propose to
meet at 7:00 pm on the Monday evening following the DM-MUG meeting,
location and details to be determined. If there was/is a way to do
some sort of iChat or other group chat online we could look at that,
but for the forseeable future we'll meet in person.

2. Meetings of the group in full will continue to be held on the 4th
Tuesday of the month as scheduled, as long as Haddock is fine with us
using their location. It would be nice if people would volunteer to
bring snacks/goodies at times.

3. We will start promptly at 7:00 pm with about a 15 minute
introductory session where we'll go around the room, introduce
ourselves and get to know each other, and everyone who wants to
contribute a tip, URL, nifty keystroke, idea for a widget or
whatever, can offer it to the group [minutes will summarize the
information provided]. Then we will have two programs and questions
will be dealt with as we go along.

4. From 7:15 - 8:15 we will have a program on a set topic
announced ahead of time. Generally these programs will focus on
basic or beginning information about Macs, programs, etc. Then from
8:15 - 8:45pm we'll have a discussion of a topic that may be more
advanced or demanding, and we'll then finish up with the last 15
minutes open up to Q & A or mingling or small group meetings to
discuss among ourselves what we have enjoyed about or learned from
the meeting or to ask questions of the people who presented or have
information to share.

5. We should try to leave by 9:00 pm so Haddock personnel can also
close up and go home. People who present should bring a handout to
the meeting or provide it to the secretary so he can send it out with
the minutes.

6. The person[s] who presented should either send out materials or
handouts or provide them to the Secretary for him to send them out
with his minutes. The minutes after the meeting will review what
went on and be sent to the full list and then even if people weren't
able to attend, they could discuss and ask questions about the
topics. While it'd be great for as many people to come to meetings
as possible, it's just not feasible and at least if we send out the
minutes and handouts to the list, everyone can share and learn.

7. Topics or ideas that seem to be of some interest [among many
others] are: use of iPhoto, iTunes, iChat, Garageband, TextEdit,
Keynote, Pages, presentations, basic maintenance of your computer,
security topics, backing up, using Photoshop Elements, using other
programs, holding a swap-meeting where people could bring things
that they want to give away or exchange, tips and tricks of various
keystrokes, Scanners and Printers and the Mac, iPod use and
accessories, iWeb and making a website. If anyone has ideas for more
topics, or ideas for particular focuses of these topics [narrowing
the topic so we can actually cover it in 30-45 minutes including
demonstrations and Q & A] please send that information to me or to
Holly [VP Programs] or the list if you like.

8. Because we are a MUG, we have a number of benefits provided to us
by Apple. http://www.apple.com/usergroups/ . We can have a free
.Mac account, we individually can save money from various vendors
[there are a number of deals and discounts noted on the Apple site],
buy items from the Apple MUG Store and save money plus 1% goes back
to the group, etc. See also http://www.mugcenter.com. We'll gather
more information about these benefits and get it out to everyone as
soon as we can.

9. Holly is going to send out a poll to find out ideas of others
about the above and other issues or topics. Please send your
responses directly to her via the link in the email.

Thanks much for 'listening' and we're looking forward to an exciting
and productive year. Victoria
