[DM-MUG] odd screen occurrence

I came down this AM and the computer screen [30" cinema display, 
still, I think, under Applecare] showed the desktop just fine but the 
upper third of the screen was darker - like a dark fog had started to 
descend down the screen - I rebooted and it's fine now but does this 
signal anything and should I take action??? I don't recall this 
happening before.
