The Pismo (official spelling) is a great machine. Wish I had one myself, but
I'll just have to make do with my Lombard (PowerBook G3 with USB/SCSI). (And
my iBook G4 ... And my PowerMac G5 ... And my "Gigabit" PowerMac G4 ... And
my "Blue & White" PowerMac G3 ... And my four G3 iMacs ...)
However, the screen does not come on. I suspect that the previous user

You can try applefritter.com or macswap.org -- both require a free
"membership" but both are excellent sources of used parts and
troubleshooting information. You might also try ifixit.com -- although they
tend to be fairly expensive.
I could probably try getting parts for a Pismo through Apple directly, but I
have a feeling the cost would be prohibitive. I could also try a couple of
our third-party wholesalers. Let me know what you need.
You will need a set of jeweler's precision screwdrivers (both slotted and
Phillips), and a set of Torx screwdrivers: particularly T8 and possibly T6
and T10. You can get a Torx set, or individual Torx screwdrivers, at Sears'
hardware department. An "MOS" (Magnet On a Stick), from your local AutoZone,
is also very useful, as are a voltmeter and a set of "dental picks," which
I've found both at Menards and at WalMart.
Secondly, looking for iSight camera, it is no longer on the Apple list and I

Bill, if you can find a good source (other than eBay) for an iSight camera,
please let *me* know. I had planned to use whatever Christmas money I
received last Christmas to buy a pair for my wife and myself. On December
11, Apple pretty much changed my plans for me by discontinuing the iSight.
What's further frustrating that Apple hasn't offered any new product to
replace it. Sure, it's fine and good that the iMacs, MacBooks and MacBook
Pros have iSight built in, but what about those that purchase new Mac minis
and Mac Pros? Or us poor slobs whose Macs are over 18 months old?
What I settled on instead is the IceCam (USB webcam for Mac & PC) by
Macally. It tends to run about $30 on amazon.com (although you might have to
go through a third-party seller). I'll even see whether I can manage to get
one through one of our suppliers (couldn't last time I checked, but you
never know).
I keep one in my laptop bag to use with my iBook G4, and my wife keeps hers
connected to her iBook G3 (700 MHz). Not quite as fast or as sharp as an
iSight, but it works great with iChat, QuickTime Pro, and Adobe
Premiere. Feel free to stop by and I'll show you my IceCam, so you can
decide whether this would be an option for you.
Peace,
CW
