[DM-MUG] Sharing iPhoto and iTunes Libraries

I was wondering what is the best way to share a iPhoto and iTunes library on a 
external drive without adding it to the internal drive or would be easier to 
have one external drive with the same material on each machine. 

If it will be two drives what sort of software do I need to mirror the drives 
so I could have the most current information on both, such as if I upload 
photos on the MacBook I could then make sure the photos are copied to the other 
drive so I will have access to it on the G-4.

I want to share this from a MacBook and a older G-4 iMac. I need to do this so 
I could have access to my tunes and to photos to keep a web site up-to-date 
when I am on the road.
