You should check out http://www.clamxav.com/.  It provides information right
on the home page as to why you want a virus scanner on the Mac and makes the
note that there are currently no viruses for the Mac OS X platform.

There is one trojan out there for Mac OS X.  You can read about it at
http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102379.  They discuss
that it is very difficult to "catch" this one and it isn't really a virus
since it isn't self-replicating.
