If people on this list don't take them, you might 'advertise' or list 
them on Craigslist or Freecycle == people there will come pick them 
up, which would certainly make your life easier.  I get rid of lots 
of odd things [such as those squarish plastic floor mats under desk 
chairs?] by putting them up on Freecycle and they're gone in 24-48 
hrs most times.
