Hmmm ... If it was built in 1996 it wouldn't be a G3. Does it say  
anything on the front like "Performa 5400/200" or "Power Macintosh  
6400/200" ?

If it is a G3 or G4 (1998-2003), perhaps a description of the machine  
(color scheme, shape & color of the CD-ROM door, general shape of the  
case, etc.) would help us identify the machine to better help you. Or  
you could find the serial number on the back of the machine for  
reference.
