[DM-MUG] Upgrading to Leopard Q

I have backed up iMac to a disk image [twice] and then realized that 
I couldn't boot from that = I do have that external drive attached to 
a MacMini [also on the network] and have opened the disk image on 
that machine's desktop - so if I upgrade to Leopard on iMac can I go 
in with Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant and do the 
migration/setup easily?  Or should I go back and find some other 
drive or partition and RE copy everything to that [not easy to do, 
frankly]
