(All of the below is from a format and install of Leopard. This isn't
an upgrade or archive.)
1-Mail.app keeps generating cryptic folders named like "Database
11-43-45-547" in my Trash and in there is always a file called
Database.sqlite3. I don't mind mail doing file/temp file management
like that, but even once Mail is quit, I can't empty the trash because
the files remain in use. It generates one of those folders containing
one of those files every single day I don't reboot my Mac. (part of
early a.m. maintenance? I don't know.)
Anybody experiencing this?
The content of that sqlite file is:

The urls in the earlier part of the file are links to RSS feeds. I
currently don't have any RSS feeds being managed by Mail.app.
2-I fixed my external HD permissions problem that started once I got
into Leopard-land. I had to go to command line and type a recursive
CHOWN command for my user account. Permissions finally survive
reboots! Yay! Before they would always revert to user "_unknown". I
kept deleting that, and putting my own account with read/write access
using the Get-Info pane, but after a reboot my changes would revert.
Weirdest thing.
3-Leopard doesn't like my 20" brushed metal Apple Cinema Display. If I
plug it in while the MacBook is running, it activates fine and
switches to mirror-view. But then when I try to close the MacBook lid
to get the native resolution of the monitor going and have the MacBook
display turned off, the MacBook gets stuck in a sleep-wake loop.
First, it won't wake up using my external Apple keyboard and mouse. So
I have to open the lid to get it wake up. But then it switches back to
mirror-view. So I close the lid, and it goes back to sleep. Rinse and
repeat. I can only get the external monitor to be the sole monitor if
I shut down the MacBook, press its power button, and close its lid
quickly before it starts analyzing for lid closure. Fun eh? Tiger
never did this.
4-The left pane of Finder windows, where devices are listed, doesn't
always update or displays duplicates. Sometimes when I plug in my
external hard drives, the same drive will appear multiple times, or
not appear at all. When it doesn't appear there, it almost always
appears on the Desktop though. And in any scenario, Disk Utlity
*always* sees the drives and indicates that their mounted.
5-I sometimes can't eject external drives from the Finder. I highlight
and click the eject gadget, or highlight and hit CMD+E, and nothing
happens. Same from the Desktop. I've even dried dragging the devices
to the trash from the Desktop, and nothing. The trash icon changes to
the eject symbol and everything, but then the device stays mounted. I
have to launch disk utility and do it from there to have any success.
6-Quickview fails to report the proper song length of Logic Express 8
generated MP3s. And it only plays the incorrect length that Quickview
states. Same mp3s play/report just fine in iTunes, Quicktime app and
iPod Classic however.
7-Airport on my MacBook has become useless when trying to work with my
Apple router. The MacBook no longer processes bandwidth. What I mean
is that I can connect to my Apple router and get an IP address and
everything, but the bandwidth is the pits. I'll get around 0.4k/s for
an hour, then it will go back to normal for 30 seconds, and then die
again for hours again. I've tried resetting the router, my DSL modem
that it gets its feed from and everything, and same behavior. I've
shut off airport, turned it back on etc. All my other wireless wifi
devices (PS3, PSP, NintendoDS) that use the Apple router work just
fine wirelessly. It's just the MacBook that's acting up. If I plug an
ethernet cable from the Apple router to the MacBook it works fine.
Switch Airport back on and unplug the ethernet cable back in, and I'm
dead in the water. This problem began with the 10.5.1 update.
