I'll do a 5-minute test at no charge. I can't, in good conscience, charge
$100 an hour to plug your PSU into my iBook (to test the PSU), then my PSU
into your iBook (to test the DC board). Yes, Jim, I'm aware that "DC board"
is the proper name for the part; I was just trying to keep to layman's terms
for now.


Again, I do stock the PSU if that's the culprit. Haddock charges Apple's
retail price of $79.


As far as the cost of the DC board, I'll have to look it up in Apple's
database, and for that I'll need the serial number on your iBook. Labor to
install the DC board would be our minimum one-hour bench fee at $100. We'll
take that step if it's necessary, after we've checked things out.


I can't guarantee that I have the DC board in stock for your exact model. I
do know I have a couple of iBook DC boards in the stock room, but off the
top of my head I can't say which models they go to, as there were several
variations. Worst case, if we do have to order in from Apple, they've been
pretty good lately about getting parts to us next-day.
