Hey John.

I've exposed my computers to smoke before (not anymore = ex-smoker).
I sold a smoke-stained 1999 iMac DV SE to my brother in 2003, and
it's worked perfectly to this day.

To prospective buyers:

I'm putting in a vote of confidence for a fine and resilient Mac
model. I used a 400MHz model iMac (with 128 MB RAM and 13 Gig drive)
for audio/midi sequencing and it performed great with ProTools LE.
Games like Diablo II and Quake 3 ran comfortably as did design apps
like Adobe GoLive and Photoshop (OS 9 versions). It was also a great
internet sharing device with an airport range of several floors in an
apartment building. Best airport range I had ever seen! The sound was
very good considering the size of its speakers. I find that today's
iMacs' built-in speakers don't sound nearly as good as these earlier
models did. External Firewire CD burners work great on this iMac, and
I never made any coasters even when multitasking.

i'm toying with the idea of parting with my old imac dv.

500mh G3
1 gb of ram
30 gb hd
2 usb, 2 fw outputs
currently running 10.4.3
it's the blue/gray translucent model

have never had any trouble with it, but
be forewarned that i'm a smoker.
any buyer might want to clean it up, though it looks fine to me,
and god knows whether or not the
internal stuff is coated with icky smoke goo.
of course, it has no fan, so smoke hasn't exactly been drawn through it.
as indicated, has only worked perfectly during my entire ownership.

no idea what this might be worth to someone, if anything.

talk me into selling it with an amazing enormous offer.
with the maxed out ram, it runs the current OS just fine for basic apps.
