If it's a newer Dual 2.0, then you're correct (meaning the generation  
when they released the dual 2.3 & 2.7).  If it's from the 1.6/1.8,  
2.0, & 2.5 era, you have 8 slots.

If you only have 4 slots, you are correct.  Get a pair of 1GB (or  
2GB) and replace the 256s.
