If you mean that the newer version of Netscape is installed but won't
load because the program says it can't load "due to lack of available
memory" then throwing away the old version of other files on your
disk won't help your problem with memory. Disk space and computer
memory are two different things.
If you mean it won't INSTALL, then you can certainly throw away the
old version of the program to free up space for the installation of
the new program's files....but be aware that if that still doesn't
free up enough disk space then you won't have either the old or the
new program. I'd start by throwing away OTHER programs or documents
you are sure you don't need. DO NOT throw away anything from inside
the System Folder. Do NOT throw away anything from Apple. If you
don't know what it is, don't throw it away. That should keep you
fairly safe.
Also, if your unit has Ethernet (and a Performa might not) then you
could use THAT to transfer files from your old computer to your new
one (if I understand you correctly and that's what you're trying to
do with Netscape's e-mail function).
