[DM-MUG] Sony's $350 ebook reader (pics)

I'd pay the price considering it would stop my purchase of book
shelves upon book shelves, lighten my next move, have a beautiful
easy to read screen (I used a Tungsten for a couple months as an
ebook reader and found it too hard on the eyes for the 16 hour
reading marathons I enjoy heh), has a battery that can last 7,500
page turns and more.
The problem is that it won't be OS X compatible. So I'll have to have
an XP machine to use its online store, meet browser expectations
(apparently their online store requires IE with admin privs.), sync
software etc. Books will use Sony's proprietary BBeB format, and I
can't find a single piece of Mac software to deal with its .lrf
and .lrx files.

I have been using my Handspring Visor (a Palm OS device) as an ebook
reader for years. I think the Sony device will be too large to hold
easily and hard to stuff in a pocket (just like the old Apple Newton).
It's also kind of pricey.
