[DM-MUG] External Firewire Drive

First, you should have it fixed under warranty if the LaCie is  
failing within a year.
Second, the actual internal media is relatively standard.  If your  
warranty is already expired it would be fairly easy to replace the  
hard drive(s) with a new one, possibly larger than 500 MB.
