[DM-MUG] Need iMac advice. *7-11-'06, at Clive-!!

Probably the mere fact of restarting the system, thereby restarting  
the Dock, is resetting it enough to work for a bit. I'd delete the  
"com.apple.dock.plist" file in your ~/Library/Preferences folder.  
Then delete the "/Library/Caches/com.apple.dock.iconcache.501" item.  
That should reset it to factory default. Then go ahead and set it up  
again and see if it works more reliably. If you have a 3rd party  
utility controlling the Dock, look for an update, or completely  
remove/uninstall it and test.
